Gorgeous voices and very different styles. Both equally stunning.

Dirty Beaches
This weekend I had the pleasure to visit the Clift Hotel with my friends to go see one man band Dirty Beaches. It was a great show, awesome guy to see live and a total hottie! As my friend Rebecca describes him, "a japanese James Dean with a voice like Leonard Cohen". Again...hot!

Vampire Honeycomb
Had I been in this tame crowd I would probably be going wild as Vampire Weekend is one of my favorite bands. Nevertheless, this a great cover of an old Honeycombs song.

Wounded Rhymes

"I'm really depressing. Some people watch comedy to relax. I watch 21 Grams. I can recognize sadness and tragedy really easily because it's been with me forever. "
Lykke Li
Couldn't have put it better myself!
So Lykke Li's new album came out today and it was everything I hoped it would be; haunting, dark, sensual, fun and just all around lovely.
Also I like this video because I like to think that she may be Death. When she finally reaches the guy she's following, even after he's been running from her, Death comes more as a consolation and solace.
Sometimes it feels like it could be that way.

A video by good friend Featherword, who also does the music for the vid. Oh life in SF! It truly can be dreamy.

Look At What She Did Now

I was excited to see a recently released music documentary about one of my favorite singer songwriters, Leslie Feist. Look At What the Light Did Now is a thoughtful inside view of her music and life as a musician. Although, it isn't just an "all about me" extravaganza, it showcases alot of the artists behind the scenes that make her shows so engaging. As someone who has seen her live, she can definitely rock the stage. Puppets, light shows, imaginitive backdrops and more make it a visual pleasure. Here's looking forward to the next album and next time she comes to San Francisco.

See You Soon
There was a time way back then when Coldplay was my favorite band of all time. Haven't really dug their latest efforts, more into the minimalistic, acoustic, intimate sound they started off with before the tried to become the next U2 and just became plain silly.
Nevertheless this is still one of my favorite songs.

Stop Motion Magic II
"Apparently the * in the name of The David Crowder* Band represents a LITE BRITE peg. The group used nearly three-quarters of a million of the little plastic pieces in 1,200 LITE BRITE images in its new video for “SMS [Shine].” The self-made video also took 2,150 man hours from 83 friends who consumed 148 pizzas, for those keeping stats.
All effects in the video were hand-done using stop motion, including plants growing out of the LITE BRITE, monkeys dancing and frogs jumping. " from Paste Magazineso awesome!
