The Heart of Lost

Tomorrow after 6 years, Lost comes to an end. As excited as I am to see mysteries revealed, those mysteries take a back seat to character arcs and their stories. The elements that made it for me where these flawed, fucked up people, strangers ending on an island and learning to survive, to trust each other and ultimately hopefully become better people. Watching their struggle, heartbreak, growth, that's what in my opinion a rich story is about. All this compounded by deeply human themes of right vs. wrong, will vs. destiny, science vs. faith, second chances, redemption and love, makes me not care to have all the answers. Because in telling a powerful human story, Lost succeeded in all accounts.

Bloopers

With so much death and mayhem there rarely seemed to be a smile on camera. Behind the scenes was a different story.

Island Love

The two best couple scenes of Lost. And also my favorite Lost scores are in these scenes. Also, a big round of applause for Michael Giacchino, who did some beautiful work composing the epic, sweeping, emotional music the series is known for.

The tear inducing phone reunion of Penelope and Desmond.

The loving relationship between Juliet and Sawyer. Damn cute scene at the dock, where where Juliet decides to stay 2 more weeks on the island and it turns into 3 years.

Less is More

A long time ago rock posters often mirrored fantasy book covers, with raging flames, skeletons and mythic looking creatures. Rock posters as of late have been shedding all the excess and going for a more minimalist look, obeying to a the trend of less is more. Someone who clearly embodies that trend is graphic design artist, Jason Munn. Originally from Wisconsin, now living the East Bay since 2002, Munn is inspired by indie bands with more artistic qualities to create his posters.
All his posters are unique amongst themselves and speak to the individuality of each band or musician they're for. Modernist and with a shout out to designs from the '40's and '50's his posters speak volumes without having to shout. Munn's design firm The Small Stakes, just released a poster book that would I would love to have on my coffee table...if I had one. You can check out more here.

Enough Said.

Broken Hearts

In the weeks to come Lost will probably invade this blog. As the series comes to an end the investment in the characters and obsession over the story only grows, which makes it difficult to accept the finale is at hand. But no matter what happens, no matter what answers are finally given, Lost has a way of breaking your heart every year. Only a couple of weeks now till the end and it hasn't been an easy ride. So far, it's been brutal.

Get With It

I suddenly feel outdated...

a place for Them...

So this is where they all go. Too bad it's closing down, then again is it an online site too? I'm confused.
